So I really wanted to try throwing darts at balloons filled with paint like in the movie Princess Diaries, but I wanted to put a saying on it. So I started out with a white piece of foam board, however I feel canvas would have worked much better. I then printed out the phrase I wanted on the painting on sticker paper, and then I had to cut it out. This would have been much easier if I had used already made decals like the one's you put on walls, however this was a much cheaper way.
Once they were cut out and stuck on the board, it was time to prepare the balloons. The best way to fill the balloons with paint is to blow them up first without tying them and then pour in the paint. After you get as much paint as you want in there you can tie it and it is ready to stick onto the board.
To stick them onto the board we just used regular thumb tacks
And we bought cheap darts from Wal-Mart, the metal tips work the best, but eventually we lost the darts and had to improvise so we simply used thumb tacks to stick the balloons which also worked pretty well.

Once all the paint was on it was time to find the letters, this was the hardest part, I eventually resorted to using a pocket knife to scrape the paint off. It came off fairly easily because the sticker stayed on the board and the only thing that pealed off was the ink, and so the sticker part served as a guide.
I debated quite a bit whether or not to leave the letters white. However filling them in with a black paint pen won out.
And this is now the creation:
This was my first attempt at this and I hope to do this again but with less of a headache.
It was also a ton of fun, and paint definitely went everywhere, so if you want a nice clean craft this is not for you, but if you don't mind a mess, this is something that is definitely worth doing!
